Since attending meetings is perhaps the last thing working parents would like to do, the Parenting Education course meets in-person only once per month for educational classes and family-friendly events, while ongoing discussions are held online. Meeting in person helps us all get to know each other, building relationships that are essential to interacting comfortably online.
The online discussion for those enrolled in the hybrid course will be held on a lightly moderated, yet-to-be-determined discussion board (if you have had a positive experience using an online discussion board, please let me know!). Conversations are held asynchronously, which means that participants can read others' posts, reflect and respond as their schedules permit. Group members may ask questions, share ideas, post articles, videos, or notices of community events or other helpful resource at any time. You may find yourself mentoring or being mentored by another parent as you share your joys and struggles and offer advice and support to others.
Prior to each educational class, I will post an article, TED talk or other video that you should read/watch before coming to the meeting, on which our class discussion and activities will be based.
